Bob Buckingham is back in his consultancy role and is supporting companies looking to expand in the professional turf arena in both the EMEA and Pacific Rim regions
Having spent 35 years in the grounds care industry in various roles, much of Bob’s time has been spent in sales and business development roles with industry leaders like Toro and Ransomes Jacobsen.
He first qualified as an engineer and then moved into an international sales role. He started his sales career developing channel partners for Ransomes across theUnited StatesandCanadaas well as withinWestern Europe.
In the late 80’s he was invited to join Toro, where he enjoyed 23 years developing the EMEA business for this market leader. During his time with Toro he was very instrumental and successful in developing the brand and market share for the full Toro portfolio of product. Latterly he was more focused on the professional segments of both irrigation and professional turf equipment.
His key achievement during his time at Toro was to take the Toro brand and market leadership to the position it enjoys today.
Much of this success was derived through the management, development and performance measurement of distribution, identification and development of emerging markets (particularly focused to the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe) and relationship development with key influencers, architects and national accounts etc. market wide.
In 2009 he established Consult BB to focus on supporting manufacturers of Turf Equipment to grow their businesses world wide. It was while he was carrying out a consultancy assignment with the Bernhard Company that he was asked to join them as CEO.
This position that allowed him further to expand his business experience portfolio of channel development into the Pacific Rim with market penetration into all key markets including, China, Japan, Korea etc.
With all of this experience under his belt, at the end of 2011 he judged that the market was coming out of the economic slump and he decided to return to consultancy. Now his focus is on supporting US based companies looking to expand their businesses in the professional turf arena overseas in both the EMEA andPacific rimregions.
