Irish Golf Managers Merge

In a merger of two associations serving the Irish Golf and Club industry the Irish Association of Golf Club Secretaries has merged with the Irish region of the Club Managers Association of Europe to become The Irish Golf & Club Managers' Association.

The Irish Association of Golf Club Secretaries (IAGCS) has merged with the Irish region of the Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE). The new association is now known as The Irish Golf & Club Managers’ Association (IGCMA).

Its aim is to represent professional club managers in the Golf, Tennis, Yachting, Leisure and Dining Club sectors.

This single membership gives the benefits of professional education, golf and social and networking opportunities as well as  membership in international bodies such as the Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE) and the Golf Club Managers Association GCMA (UK), where applicable.

The IGCMA will enable Club Mangers to have one Organisation which will

  • Act as a representative body for professional Club Managers,
  • Provide a framework for Educational Qualifications;
  • Provide a forum for networking and sharing of ideas;
  • Act as a Golf and Social outlet;
  • Provide  Educational Seminars on relevant current topics.

Hilary Madden (Monkstown G.C) was elected the first President of the IGCMA. “It’s an historic day for the profession of Club Management in Ireland”, he said “We now have one organisation with common goals, which will be representative of all the club Managers  in the country who espouse to professional management in their clubs.”
