Two important golf industry accolades have underlined the exceptional experience that awaits visitors to The Grove, London’s five-star golf resort and host venue of The 2016 British Masters, supported by Sky Sports.

The quality of its golf operations team has been highlighted with the announcement that newly promoted Mike Shrieve, assistant golf operations manager, has been recognised as the Top Year 1 Assistant for The PGA in England (East), and also 5th in the wider national awards.

Mike is currently working towards full PGA Professional status as part of the PGA course which covers all areas of working within golf, from business management and marketing to teaching techniques, sport science and golf rules.

In addition, he has now graduated with first-class honours after completing a four-year BSc (Hons) Sports Management (Golf) degree course from Bournemouth University.

The Grove, set in 300 acres of Hertfordshire countryside but less than 25 miles from central London, was also recently rewarded for its consistently high service levels at the annual 59club golf service awards. It received a coveted Gold Flag for a consistent series of outstanding ‘mystery shopper’ assessments.

The awards are designed to reward the top golf venues across all business elements – sales, service, operations, retail, food and beverage, and management – while 59club’s industry benchmark, the Gold and Silver Flags, recognise the finest membership clubs and commercial venues.

Anna Darnell, Director of Golf at The Grove commented: “We strive to offer our customers a world-class, memorable experience, and these accolades underline the efforts we go to, 365-days-a-year, to remain one of the UK’s finest golf resorts.

“Investing in our team, the golf course and our facilities are a priority for The Grove and receiving awards and accolades such as these, is a clear measure we are delivering a standout, five-star service to our growing number of private and corporate golf customers.”

Sitting alongside the critically acclaimed 18-hole Kyle Phillips-designed golf course, The Grove offers luxury accommodation in 26 historic Mansion House suites, as well as 191 rooms within the contemporary West Wing, close to the Sequoia Spa where guests can indulge in a variety of treatments and therapies.
