Golphinforkids – the innovative new concept in golf clubs for children – has appointed a new sales representative for the south of England.

Andrew Newton, a four-handicap golfer at East Brighton Golf Club, will cover Greater London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire for the brand, which is changing the way youngsters are introduced to swinging a golf club for the first time.

His appointment follows a period of significant expansion for Golphinforkids in Scotland and will enable the brand to strengthen its presence in the south east of England by supporting PGA Pros in the region, instigating a demo day programme and getting more kids into golf.

Andrew has previously worked in key sales, marketing roles and business development roles with brands including Love Film (later to become Amazon Prime).

Said Andrew: “As a keen golfer it’s always been my ambition to work in the golf industry. Right from the start I was struck by the ethos behind the Golphin brand, what it’s trying to do and the genuine innovation behind its kids clubs. The reaction from accounts I’ve opened in the first few weeks of being on board has been fantastic and demonstrates there is a real affinity for the Golphinforkids products.”

Owned and manufactured by Ayrshire-based Golphin Ltd, Golphinforkids clubs are the brainchild of Scotland-based businessman Calum McPherson and were developed in partnership with PGA professionals and biomechanics experts at Strathclyde University.

Golphinforkids clubs are unlike any other. With aerospace engineering and design at their core, they’re 35% lighter and more forgiving than conventional junior clubs, with a 35% larger sweet spot. As a result, children find it much easier to take them away smoothly, swing, make contact with the ball and get it airborne.

Said Calum: “We’re delighted to welcome Andrew on board to help grow the business. He’s not from a conventional golf sales background, but he has been extremely successful in other businesses.

“His enthusiasm and passion for golf is shining through and is completely on-message with the entire philosophy behind Golphinforkids. By working closely with pro’s and helping them with demo days and other initiatives, Andrew will be a key resource in developing Golphinforkids in the south east of UK. ”

Golphinforkids clubs are grouped in age and height brackets 3-5 (40-46″), 6-7 (46-50″),  8-9 (50″-54″) and 10-11(54-58”) Clubs are available individually and sets include a driver, 7 iron, putter and ‘swedger’ – a super-forgiving wedge – along with a bag and Dolphin driver headcover.

For teaching professionals, a special coaching pack consist of 12 clubs, a bag and three headcovers and since launching at the Scottish Golf Show in March and exhibiting at The Golf Show in Harrogate, Golphinforkids has gone from strength to strength.
