Golf against Cancer – Month of Madness on the M25!

1.18am 7th July 2011 - People

In August, Trevor Sandford will be playing his way round the infamous London ring road, one junction a day (there are 31 junctions), one course a day, raising funds for Cancer Research UK. We all know this is a great cause but in light of the recent loss of Seve Ballesteros it is even more poignant for golfers.

Each course has donated at least one tee time free of charge; the golfers joining him pay the standard green fee with any additional donations also going directly to Cancer Research UK.

Backed by TheSocialGolfer.com (TSG), 12-handicapper Trevor will be asking fellow TSG members (and the wider public) to join him for a round at each junction. And every new golfer signing up to the online golf community to join Trevor will also have their annual membership given to the charity – £19.99 per member.*

The clubs are joining in with the project and with our help, Trevor will be writing a daily blog on the site, recording his scores, tracking his stats, counting the coffees, the blisters, the miles and the putts……All in the hope that by the end of the odyssey, we can raise AT LEAST £5,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Courses on his list include: The Grove, Foxhills, Walton Heath and many more. Will he improve his game? Will he survive it? Golfers and the public will also be able to follow his progress (for free) and via the Twitter and Facebook pages of TSG.

TheSocialGolfer.com was first established in 2007 and has over 2,500 registered users in the UK. Originally owned by Kent based developers WebReactive Ltd, it was taken over by Essex based member & Media Consultant, Ian Mullins in August 2010.

The fast growing online golfing community is a place to make new friends, join local golf games, run local golf societies and local golf groups, join in chat and forum discussions, track scores, and so on.
