Glenmuir, the preferred supplier of shirts and knitwear to the European Ryder Cup Team, is today delighted to announce the appointment of Mikhel Ruia as its new Managing Director Designate.

The appointment, effective from 2nd September 2013, coincides with the start of the second decade of ownership of the Lanark, Scotland-based company by the Ruia family and comes as the internationally-renowned business enters its 115th year of continuous activity in the golf apparel market.

Said Glenmuir Managing Director, Colin Mee: “Mikhel will support the existing management team as it prepares for a momentous year in the company’s history as Preferred Supplier to the European Ryder Cup Team for the matches to be played at Gleneagles in 2014.

“Having been recognised by Ryder Cup Europe in 2012 for 25 years of continued support of the European Ryder Cup Team, everyone here understands the importance of next year’s event and we are delighted to welcome Mikhel to the company at this exciting time.

“The competition holds a special significance for Glenmuir as it is the first in history to be played on ‘home turf’ in Scotland.”

Mikhel Ruia joins Glenmuir from JP Morgan Cazenove and the Glenmuir Board of Directors is also pleased to announce that Vimal Ruia is to take on the role of Non-Executive Chairman of Glenmuir Limited to further strengthen and support the management team as it enters a new and exciting phase of its long history.

Glenmuir has been the preferred supplier of shirts and knitwear to the European Ryder Cup Team since 1987 and is a brand at the forefront of the golfwear industry since its formation in 1891.
