Former Jack Nicklaus Academies Executive Launches Consulting Firm

2.50pm 26th March 2021 - People

Synergy Group Consulting and its founder, Ted Simons, have announced the formation of a new entity to bring 3rd party expertise for the development of golf and sports learning centers and academies around the world.

Simons spent 18-years as the Executive Vice-President/COO for Nicklaus Academies world-wide and has bundled this experience under the SGC umbrella. From working with course designers and shapers to deliver the best learning and training grounds, to providing architects with the necessary building requirements, sourcing products and equipment, recruiting and training staff, developing programs and strategic relationships, providing marketing and event creative and support, and when requested, operation oversight, are all elements of the SGC package.

Ted Simons

With experience gained working in over 14 countries and visiting another 20+ over the years, it is clear each project needs to be designed specifically for that market, their demographics, the market potential, and the owners’ desired end-result. There is always an element or two from each project that can be incorporated into one in the future. Having this experience saves time and money while meeting or exceeding the vision of the client.

As the golf market adjusts from attracting new players to retaining those players, fully integrated learning centers will become more and more important to the sustained growth of the game. Golf-Entertainment facilities has provided a wonderful boost in attracting new and occasional players to the game. High-performance coaching studios are at the other end of the spectrum for those looking to improve their swings and to shoot lower scores. Facilities that incorporate all aspects in a well-formulated design will become the standard for success going forward.

Driving ranges and putting greens are no longer just used for a quick warm-up before the round. Ranges outfitted with gaming technology and F&B, while catering to the better player in terms of software, targets, and equipment, are becoming a must. Short game areas designed for focused training and practice speak to player looking to shoot lower scores. Practice holes and short courses provide a comfortable, time efficient path from hitting balls for entertainment to really playing (and enjoying) the game of golf. Integrating all aspects, including the business-side of the equation, is what Synergy Group delivers to owners, developers, contractors, and designers. SGC is in ‘the solution business’.

SGC has also been involved in developing world-class sports facilities and programming for resorts and master planned developments. Branded academies for swim, tennis, football and fitness/wellness have been added to the golf portfolio. Properly amenitised communities and resorts provide a true ‘market differentiator’ for owners, residents, and guests.

“Synergy Group provides solutions; it is a simple as that.” Ted Simons concludes. “Creating the best possible product is SGC’s passion and mission. And we know there is value in doing the job right first time.”
