Finca Cortesin, host venue of the 2023 Solheim Cup, has confirmed the appointment of José Ignacio Olea as its new Director of Golf.

With over two decades of invaluable experience in the golf industry, encompassing diverse operational, managerial, leadership, and sales roles, José Ignacio joins the team at the leading Spanish resort from Santa Maria Golf & Country Club in Panama.

His extensive career has taken him to various corners of the world, including the USA, Portugal and Spain, contributing to his well-established connections within the industry.

As Director of Golf, José Ignacio will enhance the legacy of hosting the Solheim Cup, utilising the resort’s position as one of the foremost golf destinations in the world to drive new membership and real estate opportunities.

Renowned for its immaculate conditioning and undulating layout, Finca Cortesin’s magnificent Cabell Robinson-designed golf course provided the perfect setting for one of the most dramatic editions of the Solheim Cup, as Europe came from behind to retain the trophy after a thrilling 14-14 draw.

The resort’s commitment to excellence is evident, showcasing a clear and consistent strategic vision to offer unparalleled experiences for its members and guests. Finca Cortesin is an industry leader, and I am excited to be part of their continued success, building on the benefits of hosting the Solheim Cup in 2023.”

We are confident that he will play a key role in enhancing our position as a global leader.”

Since graduating with a Double Major in Marketing and Management, specializing in Professional Golf Management, from Coastal Carolina University in 2005, José Ignacio has also received numerous qualifications including PGA of America Class A Professional status.

Finca Cortesin will aim to leverage José Ignacio’s expertise in operational management and strategic planning to ensure the resort remains at the forefront of the industry by delivering a premium experience with exceptional hospitality and service across all its operations in the years ahead.
