Direct Golf UK Continue To Strengthen Senior Team

Following a record start to 2012 including three new store openings in Scotland, Direct Golf UK continues to strengthen its senior management team and has announced another new appointment to underpin their aggressive growth  plans.

Stephen Lewis steps into the newly created Commercial Manager role and will be responsible for overseeing all of Direct Golf UK’s commercial partnerships as well as identifying new commercial opportunities for the Huddersfield-based golf retailer.

36 year-old Lewis has a wealth of experience having spent the last 13 years in a variety of commercial roles in football, including being Head of Commercial at Leeds United, Sheffield United and most recently Rotherham United.

Commenting on his appointment, Lewis, who plays of a 14 handicap, said: “Having decided to leave the game I’ve worked in for so long, my efforts and experience are now focused in another sporting passion of mine. I’m delighted to be joining Direct Golf UK at such an exciting time. It’s a great opportunity to play a part in taking Direct Golf to the next level commercially and I am very much looking forward to the challenge.”

Following the appointments of a new  Financial Controller, Technical Director and Digital Marketing Manager, all within the space of a few months, Stephen’s appointment bolsters Direct Golf UK’s management team and further reinforces the company’s commitment to grow and improve all aspects of their business.

“Stephen’s appointment, like the other recent appointments, demonstrates Direct GolfUK’s commitment to bring in the right expertise to help us take the business forward” commented Neil Bell, Managing Director.

In 2010, Direct Golf UK set-out aggressive growth plans for the business and since then have gone from strength to strength, adding nine new retail sites taking their portfolio from 12 to 21 retail stores and posting consecutive record financial years in the process.

With an improved online shopping experience at, new retail sites and the creation of Direct Golf TV, Direct GolfUK continue to exceed sales expectations and buck the trend of UK retailers.
