De Vere Wokefield Estate appoints new Director of Golf

10.33am 21st March 2024 - People

De Vere Wokefield Estate has announced the appointment of Tom Burns as the new Director of Golf at the Reading-based venue.

Burns first joined De Vere Wokefield Estate as a coach in 2015, but fast forward nearly 10 years and he will now be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the championship golf course and the golf academy.

As part of his duties as Director of Golf, Burns is leading the Wokefield Estate’s participation in Respect in Golf, an initiative set up by England Golf. The movement has been created to inspire, promote, and create greater understanding and embracement of equality, diversity and inclusion within the sport.

Speaking about his new role, Burns said: “I’m delighted to be leading on all things golf at De Vere Wokefield Estate. Being recognised by England Golf for our commitment to inclusion is something that the whole team has been working towards. ED&I efforts among many sports go unnoticed, but we’re looking forward to working together to ensure that players, not just here, but throughout the country, are given equal opportunities to pursue the sport. I’m looking forward to welcoming old, current, and new players to De Vere Wokefield Estate this year.”
