ICL has appointed Darren Hatcher as a Technical Area Sales Manager, covering Hampshire, Surrey and London.

After leaving school Darren began his career as a Greenkeeper before working his way up to Course Manager. After fulfilling a life-long ambition of travelling the world, which he did with his wife, he then embarked on a career in the turf care and landscape industry.

Darren is vastly experienced within the industry, including a position with ICL distributors Sherriff Amenity where he worked as an Amenity Specialist for seven years.

“When I got the phone call from ICL I was very pleased to even be considered because their portfolio of products is absolutely fantastic. The fact that they are doing everything from digging it out of the ground to manufacturing it – it’s totally unique and they’re the only company I know that does that. The opportunity to work for such a leading global business was too good to turn down,” said Darren.

Darren is already relishing the opportunity of representing the company in the areas of Hampshire, Surrey and London predominantly, and he provided a glimpse of what he’ll be doing on a daily basis:

“I’ll regularly be visiting end users, promoting the brand and the products and also working alongside distribution – whether that be face-to-face with the distributor or meeting up with the distributor and going into see customers offering technical assistance.

“I’m particularly looking forward to growing business in this area for ICL. Being a Course Manager myself at grass roots level I understand what they are up against and whether it be budgets, weather, machinery or staff – I have been at the sharp end so making the most of what you’ve got is very important,” he said.
