Darren Clarke produced a nerveless display to win the Sanford International in a playoff at Minnehaha Country Club on Sunday, as he credited the use of CBD oil in helping him to record his third PGA TOUR Champions victory of the season.

Clarke started his week in South Dakota with a scintillating seven-under-par 63, to sit tied for the lead after the first day. He followed up with a 70 on Saturday before carding a brilliant five-under-par 65, which included a birdie on the 18th hole on Sunday afternoon.

In the three-man playoff that followed, Clarke would go on to claim victory with a birdie on the second playoff hole and cement a win that has fired him into the top-10 on the money list for the Charles Schwab Cup.

The 53-year-old former Ryder Cup star has seen a fantastic upturn in form over the past 18 months, with three wins across his debut season on the PGA TOUR Champions, and a brilliant second placed finish at the Senior Open Championship in July.

Speaking about his latest win, Clarke said: “It’s nice to get back in the winner’s circle again, in the playoff you never know what’s going to happen, anybody can make birdie and luckily it was my day.”

Clarke was quick to attribute CBD oil in playing a key role in his impressive form after the Senior Open and it continues to play a key role for him: “CBD oil has undoubtedly helped my game, especially when it came to recovering between rounds. It’s easy to get tired and achy when playing a four-day tournament, but I’m certain that using CBD this week worked to negate that, and also I have never slept better.”
