Clark and Segal in Bruce Clark relaunch

Industry veterans Bob Clark and Stan Segal are joining forces to relaunch one of the UK’s most successful outwear brands, Bruce Clark.  Bruce Clark enjoyed nearly 20 years as one of the top 3 outwear brands in the UK and with over 50 years experience between them, Bob and Stan’s outwear expertise is guaranteed to bring this fantastic brand back into the lime light.

Bruce Clark was originally launched by Bob Clark in 1981 and enjoyed incredible success at retail and was also popular on Tour.  The Scottish based company’s enviable reputation for delivering quality products helped elevate the Bruce Clark to become one of the Top 3 outerwear brands in the country.

The success of Bruce Clark drew interest in Bob’s design expertise and after 20 years of building the business, Bob took the decision to concentrate his time on developing the Ashworth and Callaway outwear categories on a full time basis.  His work at Ashworth and Callaway was responsible for propelling the brands’ outwear categories into genuine contenders in the marketplace and also significantly increasing their turnover.

Stan Segal’s credentials are equally impressive.  From 1985-2001 Stan was Sales & Marketing Director at Sunderland of Scotland, which ironically was one of Bruce Clark’s main competitors!  As well as sales and marketing expertise, Stan also has experience of outerwear product development gained during his time at JRB.

The announcement of the new relationship between these two industry stalwarts will undoubtedly have an immediate impact in the outerwear market and they are sure that the new line up from Bruce Clark will as well. It was essential that the company’s first range captured the essence of the original brand as Bob explains, “Bruce Clark had a reputation for manufacturing high quality products so it was really important that our first range lived up to these high expectations. We are delighted with the garments and with the reaction they have received so far. I am confident that with Stan’s involvement we can recreate the same level of interest that the brand enjoyed in its heyday.”

The first range has two lines, the top of the range Elite collection and the mid range Elan collection.  The waterproof garments in each range use different technologies, but both come with an industry leading 3 year guarantees.  The Elite collection uses Gelanots® laminates and Elan uses a laminate called Aspir8®, both of which are waterproof, lightweight, breathable and soft to the touch.  The garments on offer will include full zip and half zip jackets and pullover tops as well as zip-fly waterproof trousers.

A sales team has already been appointed to sell in the new collection and Stan is extremely confident of their success, “the Bruce Clark brand has an incredible pedigree and I am really excited about relaunching it in the UK.  Bob and I have worked very closely to create a desirable and very commercial range for our sales team and based on our experience we are extremely confident that retailers and consumers will react very positively to the new products.”
