Callaway Golf Europe appointments

9.00am 10th September 2002 - People

Neil Howie has been appointed to the position of director, European sales following the promotion of Patrice Hutin (reported last week), currently managing director of Callaway Golf Europe Ltd, to vice president of global sales and advertising.

In this newly created position, Mr. Hutin will relocate back to the United States but will continue in his capacity as managing director of Callaway Golf Europe (Callaway Golf’s wholly-owned European subsidiary) for the immediate future.

Based at the company’s European headquarters in Chessington, Surrey, Neil will be responsible for coordinating the activities of Callaway Golf’s four European sales regions. Neil joined Callaway Golf in July 1998 as European brand manager, Odyssey Golf, and was appointed sales manager, UK and Ireland in October 2001. Previous to joining the company, Neil worked in the golf industry for some 15 years, latterly as managing director of Rogue Golf and prior to that, UK sales manager at TaylorMade Golf.

“Neil has an amazing understanding of the golf industry,” said Patrice Hutin, “and has established particularly strong links with our trade partners. This has been very much reflected in the levels of growth we have achieved with Odyssey in Europe, and with our overall business in the UK market over the past four years. I’m confident that his experience can be put to greater use across Europe where I am sure his enthusiasm and leadership skills will have a positive impact on our European business”.
