Braemar Golf has announced the appointment of Michael Braidwood as Operations Director. This is a senior appointment within Braemar Golf and Michael will play an instrumental role in the management of projects as well as continuing to develop the operational and marketing expertise we provide to our clients and develop influential business relationships.
Michael has joined Braemar Golf having worked for the Bahrain International Golf Course Company (BIGCC), Kingdom of Bahrain, since 1998. He joined the company as General Manager to open and manage the Riffa Golf Club. This was part of the management contract held by Gleneagles Golf Developments, which eventually evolved into Braemar Golf and so Michael is well known to the existing Braemar Golf team
Riffa Golf Club quickly established itself as one of the region’s leading golf clubs being voted 2nd best club in the region by Middle East Traveller on two occasions. The club also played host to two PGA European Seniors Tour end of Season Tour Championships in 2005 and 2006. The business was quickly profitable which led to the forming of a joint venture company to redevelop the existing site and surrounding land into an integrated golf and real estate community.
In 2005 Michael led BIGCC’s investment and participation in the Riffa Views development and was responsible for the development of the new Montgomerie course and opening of the Royal Golf Club which opened in 2009. The course was constructed by BraemarNass, the joint venture golf course construction company of Braemar Golf.
Michael is a PGA qualified golf professional and formerly worked at Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. In his time there he worked on a number of initiatives including the opening of the Golf Academy which at that time was the most innovative golf academy in the world. He also spent time in South Africa at the Fancourt Resort working on a Gleneagles contract to revamp their academy operations and to make their golf operations profitable.
Michael brings a proven track record of project development and commercial golf management and will be a great asset to our projects, clients and to Braemar Golf and believe this shows the continued strengthening and growth of the company.
