BIGGA opens its doors to Groundsmen

7.47am 6th July 2009 - People

The British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA), until now only open to those working full time on golf courses, opened its full membership category to groundsmen who work on sporting facilities at a recent Extraordinary General Meeting.

The EGM called to vote on giving groundsmen full membership within BIGGA was carried. The 84% “Yes” vote is a ringing endorsement for the proposal and groundsmen are now eligible to join BIGGA and enjoy the same membership benefits as golf greenkeepers.

“This is a significant day in the history of the Association and I look forward to welcoming groundsmen into BIGGA and am sure that there will be a great deal of benefit to any groundsman who decides to join,” said BIGGA Chief Executive, John Pemberton.
