Six Stickers author and former national newspaper sports reporter Adam Carroll-Smith has joined international golf, sports and travel marcomms specialist the Azalea Group as an account manager.
Carroll-Smith, 29, wrote the critically acclaimed book about completing his 1990s football sticker album, in 2013, alongside a burgeoning career in marketing and communications. And, earlier this month, he moved to Azalea where he will continue to develop that side of his CV.
Six Stickers was his second book, following on from Chasing Sachin, published in 2011, which focused on his obsession to bowl just one ball at his cricket hero, Sachin Tendulkar, during India’s 2011 tour of England.
And, while he continues to publish light-hearted sports-related books in his spare time, it’s his experience in marketing, communications and social media that landed him the job at Azalea, as managing director Sean Noble confirmed.
“We’ve known Adam for some time as, when he was at university, he spent some time with us on work experience,” he explained. “We knew then that he was a talented guy and, because we kept in touch, we were able to entice him to join us when the opportunity arose.
“He’s not just an experienced journalist, he has a proven track record in creative digital marketing and is experienced in communication at all levels. We’re delighted to welcome him to Azalea and we’re confident all our clients and contacts will benefit from working with him.”
Carroll-Smith is a keen golfer with a handicap of 18 – “it would be lower, but I’ve been busy,” he smiled.
He added: “It may sound a little trite to say I’m delighted to join Azalea, but I truly am. They were very welcoming to me when I was first starting out and I kept in touch with the guys there because I got on so well with them. And the opportunity to come back here again with all the added experience I’ve garnered in the mean-time is a great opportunity.
“Azalea has an impressive client portfolio and an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding results. It’s good to be able to renew old acquaintances and I’m really enthused about the opportunity to help continue the company’s expansion.”
Now in its eighth year of trading, Azalea has established itself as one of Europe’s leading specialist agencies, working with some of the continent’s major national and regional tourist boards, flagship golf and lifestyle resorts, and golf’s leading brands.
