AGIF LogoExperience within the Asian golf industry and corporate business development, a passion for the Royal & Ancient game and an ability to lead from the front are pre-requisites for candidates for the prestigious role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).

The decision to seek a CEO, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the Federation’s operation and carrying out the instructions of the Board, was unanimously approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting in Beijing a fortnight ago.

Under the Presidency of Tim Trinka, the AGIF, which celebrates its fifth anniversary in August, has made significant forward strides over the past 12 months.

With the Education Committee now staging a series of acclaimed educational events around the region, the appointment of a Chief Communications Officer and strengthening of ties with global bodies such as The R&A, National Golf Foundation and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Trinka said now is the time for the AGIF to move to the next level.

“Such is the growth and expansion of the Federation that we now need a CEO who is dedicated full-time to implementing the full depth and breadth of our plans,” said Trinka.

“We need someone who is comfortable in golf and non-golf boardrooms around the world on the one hand, and who is able to roll up his/her sleeves and get the work done on his/her own.

“It is critical that that AGIF selects a candidate that can suitably demonstrate the necessary commitment and passion for the task at hand. In this respect there is no room for compromise.”

To assist in the search, AGIF has engaged the services of Colt Mackenzie McNair (CMM), the leading executive recruitment specialist working in the golf markets of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, and a Charter Member of the AGIF.

Tim Orgill, CMM’s Principal Consultant – Asia, said: “CMM has proven experience in pinpointing the next leaders of globally important golf bodies and associations, such as the AGIF.

“Our exhaustive search, selection and benchmarking processes always pinpoint the very best candidate and CMM looks forward to working with the AGIF and its Board on this exciting appointment, which comes at such an important time in the organisation’s development.”
