Eddy Putra, the APGC’s Chief Referee and a former Advisory Member of The R&A Rules Committee, has served as the APGC’s General Manager since 2022, but is now stepping down from the role.
“This individual will lead our organisation and be the driving force behind our strategic vision and operational success,” said Taimur Hassan Amin, Chairman of the Confederation. “This role demands a seasoned leader who can inspire and guide our team, manage resources effectively, and ensure the organisation’s continued growth, sustainability and relevance to the world of golf.”
The APGC is the representative body for 47 male and female national golf associations across Asia-Pacific. It acts as the hosting partner for major amateur events in the region, including the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), in conjunction with The R&A and The Masters Tournament, and the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP), in conjunction with The R&A.
Also under the auspices of the Confederation are the APGC Junior Championships, APGC Senior Championships, the Nomura Cup, also known as the men’s Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship, the Queen Sirikit Cup, officially known as the Amateur Ladies Asia-Pacific Invitational Golf Team Championship, and the Bonallack Trophy and Patsy Hankins Trophy, in conjunction with the European Golf Association.
Furthermore, the APGC supports member organisations in the development of golf in their respective countries and also works to ensure adherence to the Rules of Golf as approved by The R&A, and partners with The Masters Tournament and the International Golf Federation in the promotion of golf.
