american golf Makes New Board Appointment

american golf, Europe’s largest multi-channel retailer of golfing equipment and accessories, has bolstered its board with the appointment of experienced retailer TrudyHills as Trading Director.

In her new role, Trudy will lead the buying and marketing functions of the Warrington-based business and oversee a team of 15. A key part of her work will be to engage with some of the sport’s leading brands, including Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping, Cobra, Nike, Wilson, Mizuno, Adidas, Galvin Green, Footjoy and Puma, to source the best equipment for american golf’s customers.

Trudy began her 21-year career in retail at Procter & Gamble and went on to hold a number of senior positions in the sector, including  General Manager of Health & Beauty and Babycare at Asda, Buying Director at Pets at Home and most recently as Category Controller for Frozen and Chilled at Iceland Foods.

Kevin Styles, american golf’s Chief Executive Office, said: “Trudy’s appointment adds real value to our management team as we continue to expand the business. She has an impressive track record in retail and that experience will be pivotal in enhancing our product offering.”

American golf was founded in the late 1970s by brothers Howard and Robert Bilton with a single store in Ashton in Makerfield. The business now has a portfolio of 103 stores across the UK and annual sales of £133m.
