Six months on from its acquisition of Knutsford’s High Legh Park Golf Club, international leisure brand, American Golf, has invested in the senior management team with the appointment of experienced golf club manager, Stuart Buckley, as the Club’s new General Manager.

Qualified in golf management and with over a decade of direct management experience in Northwest golf clubs, Stuart plans to further enhance the user experience at the Club, by improving all elements of the golf courses, as well as increasing the accessibility of the clubhouse offering to the local community, including an Italian American restaurant concept, which has recently opened at the Club and is available daily to non-members.

Stuart says: “High Legh Park Golf Club is a real landmark on the northern golfing scene. I’m excited to have such a fabulous team and site to work with. American Golf’s ethos is to be inclusive, widening the appeal of golf to people who haven’t played the sport before, including women and young players and one of our big focuses will be to make the Club as accessible as possible to the local community.

“Golf is proven to be beneficial for mental as well as physical health and we want more people to come along and try the sport – what’s more you’ll be doing it all in the great outdoors surrounded by the most stunning Cheshire countryside.”

High Legh Park Golf Club is perfectly equipped for all levels of golfer, with two courses, a driving range, pitch and putt, practice facilities and 23 Toptracer bays. The complex also boasts The Clubhouse Bar and Restaurant which overlooks the Cheshire parkland course.

American Golf purchased the iconic High Legh Park Golf Club in Cheshire in a £2.7m deal in April 2021, marking the first time the retailer had owned an entire golf complex inclusive of courses, retail outlet, conference and event facilities and a food and beverage offering. American Golf has also put significant investment into new golf ranges in Rossendale, Lancashire and Hemingford Abbots in Cambridgeshire. Developing golf ranges is a key part of American Golf’s growth strategy, with the increased facilities offering more of a leisure destination and widening the audience appeal.
