DLF Golf 2_smallJohnsons Sports Seed is made up of a range of mixtures for greens, tees, fairways and roughs. Within each mixture the varieties have been carefully selected for top performance. The company believes strongly in the value of global breeding backed up with local independent trials and product evaluation.2014 sees DLF/Johnsons cultivars topping the Turfgrass seed booklet, with the number 1 ranking on 15 tables, enabling Greenkeepers to select the quality of seed mixtures based on genuine scientific trials results.

Amongst the 2014 highlights is the new fine turf perennial ryegrass Clementine, which tops the STRI trials with exceptional shoot density and tolerance of close mowing. Clementine is now included in J Rye Green for truly first class surfaces. Another is Beudin the highest ranked new cultivar and is a welcome addition to the Johnsons portfolio. Beudin produces outstanding turf quality and shoot density under both fairway and close mown conditions. It increases ball speeds and reduces invasion by Poa annua and other coarse grasses. Beudin is included in J Premier Green. The Johnsons seed range already offers a strong bent grass portfolio but Arrowtown tops that range. This was bred from exceptionally fine and dense plants collected from greens at Arrowtown Golf Club in New Zealand. The really exceptional level of shoot density and fineness of leaf, even at the closest of cuts, deliver maximum ball speed and trueness potential. Arrowtown is included in J All Bent.

J Rye Green has been developed as a renovation mix where intense wear and heavy shade is a problem on golf greens. The inclusion of Clementine ensures fast establishment, excellent recovery exceptional fineness of leaf, high shoot density and was rated the UK number one under close mowing.

J Premier Green offers a high performance renovation mix for golf greens.  With the inclusion of Beudin, this unique 60% bent mixture, with fescue nurse crop content for successful overseeding, displays unbeatable shoot density to give increased ball speeds. It improves natural disease resistance and has a higher tolerance to close mowing. Its unbeatable shoot density reduces Poa annua invasion.

J All Bent, on the other hand, finds particular purpose for regular overseeding. Quality bent grasses allow a closer cut and greater wear tolerance over pure fescue swards. With the inclusion of Arrowtown & Manor, J All Bent sets a new standard for density and visual quality. Used regularly throughout the growing season, this all bent mixture helps to reduce poa annua invasion and gives fast sustainable greens.
