Golfers have a new brand to look out for in the glove market following the launch of Skins Golf, a London-based company which has unveiled a range of eye-catching gloves that feature some unique design details.
Made from tour-quality, premium AAA cabretta leather, Skins Golf gloves are predominantly pearl white in colour, but feature graphic detailing on the inside of the fingers and on the wrist to give them a distinct and unique look.
Skins Golf founder Don Magrane, a 30-year-old Irishman who gave up a career as an investment banker in London to follow his dream of setting up a golf brand, said: “Just as golf shoe design underwent a revolution in the last decade, we felt that golf gloves needed a revamp. Ever since Sam Snead popularised the plain white golf glove in the 1940s, the industry has yet to evolve with the times, so we set out to design a range of gloves that will introduce flair and style, with designs that bring out the character in every golfer.”
The range currently boasts eight different designs, including gloves featuring pop art graphics and themes around poker, the Day of the Dead, drinks, music, palm trees and doughnuts.
Magrane says: “When we considered how we would design our first range of golf gloves, we wanted to go for something totally out of the box, something aesthetically awesome, whilst still retaining the maximum level of quality and comfort that golfers expect. Unique, colourful and distinct art has been carefully printed on the wrist and between the fingers of each of our gloves. Each one tells a story, puts a persona behind the wearer, allowing them to truly show who they are.”
Despite their unique look, Magrane says that the quality of the materials, manufacturing processes and the performance of the glove in all conditions remains paramount.
“Our days and weeks of testing multiple leather variations have allowed us to land on what we feel is the highest quality cabretta leather we could get our hands on,” Magrane says. “Add to that the meticulous detail behind our stitching, we truly feel that the balance of quality, softness, performance and style is unmatched. We work with one of the largest manufacturers of golf gloves worldwide to ensure we’re only testing the best products the market has to offer.”
Available in five sizes (S, M, M/L, L, XL), Skins Golf gloves can be purchased online from www.skinsgolf.com for £17.99 per glove or £50 for three. The company has partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant a tree for every glove bought to help the company and its customers reduce their carbon footprint.
