Peak Vision Jack NicklausJack Nicklaus has licensed PeakVision, an innovator and leader in golf-sunglass technology for more than 10 years, to design and promote Jack Nicklaus Signature Eyewear and Golden Bear Sunglasses brands both domestically and globally. The collaboration will benefit the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.

PeakVision will produce premium eyewear featuring proprietary, patented Dual-Zone/Zero-Distortion™ lens technology that focuses on superior vision for outdoor activities, especially on the golf course. The new line, inspired by and with design input from Nicklaus, will be available at Muirfield Village Golf Club during the 2013 Memorial Tournament, the prestigious PGA TOUR event founded and hosted by the Golden Bear. Prescription models produced through an exclusive partnership with Essilor, the world’s leading optical lens and laboratory, will also be available.

“Jack Nicklaus is widely regarded as the greatest golfer of all-time and the most successful golf course designer in the world,” said J. Paul Moore, founder and CEO of PeakVision. “We honor his superior sportsmanship, personal values and design acumen with eyewear marked by that inimitable Nicklaus style.

“Jack and Barbara Nicklaus long ago discovered the superior vision performance that PeakVision delivers on and off the golf course,” Moore continued. “It’s an honor to collaborate with Jack Nicklaus to produce Nicklaus-branded eyewear that will protect golfers’ eyes and vision on the golf course, while also improving their performance.”

A portion of sales from the Jack Nicklaus Signature Eyewear Collection and Golden Bear Sunglasses will benefit the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, which was founded in 2004 to help children and their families in the communities where the Nicklaus family has lived and worked for decades. The Foundation’s mission is to provide access to world-class health care for all children and support innovative programs focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of childhood illness.

“Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have had a long-standing commitment to growing the game but also to helping children in need,” Moore said. “We have found through our research that many adults become keenly aware of the need for protective eyewear late in life and often after they have suffered ocular damage. Through this relationship we have the opportunity to make children and their parents aware of the need to protect their eyes, on and off the course, at an early age, to make significant strides in preventive eye care.”

The Golden Bear is globally recognized as the greatest golfer in the game’s history, having accumulated 120 professional victories, including a record 18 major championships. His legacy has extended off the course to his businesses, which include industry-leading Nicklaus Design and the iconic Jack Nicklaus and Golden Bear brands, which have been licensed to products ranging from apparel to wine.

Nicklaus and PeakVision: A Vision for Performance

“PeakVision produces the best sunglasses for anyone who enjoys the game of golf, whether it is in competition or just recreation,” Nicklaus said. “Their Dual-Zone/Zero-Distortion lens technology solves the problems many golfers have with wearing sunglasses on the course, and by eliminating distortion and glare, PeakVision sunglasses can actually help when reading greens.

“The Nicklaus Companies and PeakVision teams share a common quest for excellence, so we look forward to building success together. I look forward to working with PeakVision to influence the design of golf sunglasses that will fit the vision and style requirements and needs of golfers of all skill levels and ages.”

Moore emphasized that Jack never had the opportunity to wear proper eye protection during his career, but the Golden Bear’s continued love of the game and the outdoors led him to pursue a relationship with the industry leader.

“Jack was never one to wear sunglasses or any eye protection when he played, because traditionally, sun lenses distorted vision,” Moore added. “But with the advancements in lens technology from PeakVision, now every golfer can embrace eye protection that is proven to enable superior vision for every shot, as well as shield eyes from the harmful effects of UV exposure.”
