Ben Hogan Golf has launched a limited edition set of Player’s Black Combo irons, which feature PTx PRO Black mid and long irons (4-7) combined with ICON Black short irons (8-PW).
Unlike most ‘combo sets’ on the market which make design sacrifices from the start — where the long irons do not have enough game-enhancement technology while the shorter, scoring irons have too much — the Ben Hogan Player’s Combo Sets uses the best elements of two distinctly different iron models.
Scott White, President and CEO of Ben Hogan Golf, said: “We were blown away by demand for the Player’s Combo Set. We knew it was a great concept, but never expected it to become a cornerstone of our product line. Throughout the latter half of 2021, we just couldn’t keep up with demand. On top of that, we’ve had ongoing requests for the set to made available in black finishes. The Player’s Black Combo Set is the response to those golfer demands.”
He added: “Black golf clubs have been popular for a number of years now and we don’t see that trend changing anytime soon. Our proprietary Diamond Black Metal finish has proven to be preferred by many discerning golfers. We offer it as an alternative on many of our irons and wedges because it is more durable than nickel chrome and doesn’t flake or crack like black paint.”
In keeping with the Ben Hogan manifest, the set will maintain consistent 4-degree loft gapping throughout, starting with the 4-iron at 22 degrees, going up to the pitching wedge at 46 degrees.
RRP: $840 for 7 club sets, plus the option of an 18-degree VKTR+ hybrid for a special price of $100.
