The Golf Club Secretary – Open Championship, which is now in its 20th year and growing ever more popular amongst secretary/managers is the premier golf tournament for secretaries in the UK.

The Championship is open to the secretaries and managers of the Clubs which subscribe to The Golf Club Secretary. It enables competitors to both meet and discuss current problems/ideas whilst enjoying a competitive round, with the prospect of progressing to the annual Final.

In the last nineteen years it has grown from a one round, shotgun start, competition, to the most successful Championship of its kind, with ten Regional Qualifying Tournaments annually. Some 30-50 competitors (20% of each field), qualify for the Final each year.

In 2016 the Final will be held at Royal West Norfolk Golf Club, Brancaster. The Sunday evening including dinner will be at The Hoste in Burnham Market. The entrants are of course the backbone of the game of golf and come from every kind of club from the highest to the more humble. Each individual tournament is an 18 hole Stableford, off the white tees, commencing at around 09.30-10.00 with a two tee start, so that all the competitors may lunch together after the round and be present for the prize giving.

The Championship is fortunate to attract the support of a number of prominent companies that support The Championship and who derive great benefit from their association.

The Regional Qualifying Tournaments 2015/16 commence on 1st October at Luffenham Heath. For further information and an entry form visit http://thegolfclubsecretary.co.uk/
