Hoebridge Golf Centre has capped off a bumper twelve months by winning the Charity Club of the Year category of the annual, industry-renowned, ‘Club Mirror’ awards.

In March 2013, the public pay-and-play centre, on Old Woking Road, was rewarded at the highest level for its sustainable business operations.

Following this, in June, Hoebridge’s Senior General Manager, Mike O’Connell, earned the Certified Club Manager (CCM) qualification – a global industry benchmark in golf club management.

The most recent accolade, awarded by Club Mirror, a leading sports and entertainment club trade magazine, recognises extraordinary contribution to the community and to charity.

Hoebridge Golf Centre – part of BGL Golf, the leading golf course owner and operator – supports a variety of local charities, such as the Elmbridge Community Link and the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, as well as hosting fundraising days for well-known national causes, including Jeans for Genes Day and Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer Campaign, for the latter of which more than £1000 was raised at Hoebridge in 2013.

In 2013, Hoebridge also opened the immediately popular Pirate Island Adventure Golf Course, which has attracted thousands of swashbuckling visitors from across the region, throughout the year, to tackle the obstacle strewn 18-hole putting layout.

Mike O’Connell, Hoebridge Golf Centre Senior General Manager, said: “Our success is a by-product of fantastic customers who support our initiatives with enthusiasm, and the staff here, who happily go the extra mile, whether it is to help fundraise for charitable causes, assist the smooth running of events or keep the golf facilities up to scratch to keep people coming back for more.”

In addition to the new Pirate Island Course, Hoebridge boasts three stunning golf courses, beautifully laid out in the picturesque countryside, offering views of the Surrey Downs, including the 18-hole Maybury Course, with holes ranging from 72 to 182 yards, the nine-hole Shey Copse, and the 18-hole Hoebridge Course, designed by former Ryder Cup captain and golf legend, John Jacobs.
