PGA links with Press Association

8.45am 13th February 2003 - Media

As part of a wider partnership with The Press Association the PGA has signed a deal with the UK and Ireland national news agency to supply www.pga.info with daily updates.

The addition of a live news feed is the latest in an ongoing series of additional features planned for the web site, which was re-launched in July 2002. The Press Association will provide in-depth coverage of the USPGA and European tours, the four Majors and all the major tournaments on the professional and amateur scene.

Every tournament on the LPGA tour will be featured, there will be regular reports of seniors’ events in Europe and the United States and details about the key tournaments on the Asian, Australian, Japanese and South African circuits.

Founded in 1868, the Press Association is the UK’s leading provider of real time news and sports information. The organisation is at the heart of the UK’s media industry, supplying services to every national and regional daily newspaper, major broadcasters, online publishers and a wide range of commercial organisations

The PA’s head of international and sports services, Andy Elliott, said the PGA deal reflected the success of his agency’s strategy of forging close ties with the sporting world’s governing bodies.

“We already host and edit the Premier League’s official web site, as well as providing news, data and photographic services for organisations such as the Football League, UEFA, the British Horseracing Board, the England and Wales Cricket Board and the European Athletics Association,” he added.
