Murrayshall has climbed up the latest ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in Great Britain & Ireland’ rankings and is now placed inside the top 14 ‘stay-and-play’ venues in Scotland for the first time.
The luxury boutique estate – set within 365 acres of Perthshire countryside – has reaped the rewards of its recent investments to upgrade the hotel and golf facilities with a rise of five and three places respectively in the bi-annual ‘Top 100 GB&I Golf Resorts’ rankings from Golf World and National Club Golfer.
In ranking Murrayshall as one of the biggest risers at 43rd in the GB&I list and 14th in Scotland, Golf World‘s review said: “When a resort has improved markedly within two years, it has to be recognised… and that is the case here. Murrayshall moves up five spots, but that could easily have been one or two more, and this is not the end of its journey. If you want a special stay, you’d be very wise to look to this sublime secret of Perthshire.”
Offering 27 holes of parkland golf, the venue was also ranked highly by National Club Golfer at 31st in GB&I and 11th in Scotland. The editorial team said: “The 18-hole Murrayshall championship course is a Scottish Top 100 contender and meanders through tree-lined fairways and undulating parkland. The nine-hole Lynedoch is a wee gem – expect tight fairways with bracken-filled gullies. Accommodation is elegant and sophisticated.”
“We’re delighted to gain such recognition in the latest Top 100 rankings during an exciting growth period for Murrayshall,” said General Manager Gary Silcock. “Hearing the positive feedback after extensive investments across the estate is a source of great pride and with even more amazing plans still to be delivered, we are well placed to continue offering the highest levels of customer service and fantastic value for money,” he added.
Over the last four years, recent updates to the golf courses include new bunkers with white sand to reflect a US-style; an enhanced drainage scheme to lengthen the playing season; and new machinery to ensure the highest playing standards. These continual improvements have seen a 16% year-on-year growth in overall membership and a junior section that has more than doubled in size in the same timeframe.
“It’s fantastic to see the membership numbers grow on the back of our initial investments and with the Destiny Bridge now open we expect to attract even more golfers and visitors looking to enjoy all that Murrayshall has to offer,” added Silcock.
The estate has planning permission granted for a new driving range, the addition of 22 luxury pods and 25 holiday lodges, plus a 27,000 square foot spa and leisure complex that will take the venue’s facilities to the next level later this year.
