For the first time in the eighteen year history of the Eircom Spiders internet awards, Irish golf has received national recognition in IT through one of its coveted ‘Spider’ awards. My Golf Society was crowned as the winner of Ireland’s best website in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality at the gala event in The Convention Centre, Dublin on 28 November 2013.

Universally regarded as the nations most prestigious and longest standing web awards, this win represents a giant leap of progress for the golf industry in Ireland. With over one hundred Irish golf courses supplying content for the My Golf Society website, this award should be celebrated by the golf industry as a whole and give confidence to all golf club managers hoping to use online platforms to promote their brand effectively.

Having redeveloped and launched a new website in March 2013, this is a remarkable achievement for My Golf Society, Ireland’s only online golf society booking agent. With over 150 Irish golf courses and hotels featured on their website, the user is spoiled for choice when availing of their free booking service. The company is owned by Target Golf Management, who celebrated ten years in business earlier this year, and has been at the forefront of innovation in golf since its early beginnings.

Garrett Donnery and Andy Kenny, directors of Target Golf Management, were on hand to collect the award on the night and the former was quick to pass the credit on to the partner golf clubs and hotels who feature on the site, “We are delighted with this award, particularly after all the long nights that we spent redeveloping the site earlier this year, but we know that it could not have been possible without the support of our partners”.

The My Golf Society team are now hoping to take their brand to the UK in a bid to entice foreign groups to come to Ireland for their golfing trips. On the back of being voted Ireland’s best website in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality, Andy Kenny believes the company is ready for this move, “This award has really given us the confidence to expand and target more groups from outside of Ireland. Hopefully we will be able to generate additional revenue for the Irish golf industry through this medium over the coming years”.
