Colin Montgomerie Joins golfacademytv.com

12.17am 4th April 2011 - Media

Colin Montgomerie, captain of the victorious 2010 European Ryder Cup team, has joined golfacademyTV, a new video concept of golf coaching aimed at improving the amateur game via the web.

Along with Montgomerie members of the site will also hear from world renowned golf coaches such as David Leadbetter, Jos Vanstiphout (mental) and Frenchman JJ Rivet (biomechanics) offering their expert advice on how amateurs can improve all aspects of their game. It is with great passion that Colin supports both Strategytv and Handicaptv channels on the site. Each week, Montgomerie will provide a new video tip helping members of both channels lower their handicap.

Colin, what motivated you to join golfacademytv?

I really appreciate the philosophy behind a global concept aimed at helping amateur players improve their game. I have seen many things that approach the technical side of the game; however other aspects such as the mental and strategic side of the game are often ignored. Most amateur golfers think golf is all about technique but it’s much more than that. The idea of supporting the golfer through an innovative, clear and structured website covering all aspects of the game is very appealing.

Are you convinced that the golfer can improve with this site?

Yes I’m sure they can. Throughout my career I have played and still do play in lots of pro-am’s with amateur players of all golf levels. Believe me, all these players would find something on the site that would be enough to improve their game and lower their handicap. Away from the course the site offers golfers the perfect way to recharge their batteries and learn new tips that they could practice next time out on the course. Whether technical, practice methods, strategic or mental by putting it all together you can see the scope of progress potential.

How does your collaboration with golfacademytv work?

Everything is done in an extremely simple, friendly and spontaneous way. We shoot our videos simply without any trickery involved so the viewer feels they are having a personal one on one golf lesson. It’s a nice feeling speaking directly to golfers and not just to the camera like a normal interview, it’s as if the camera isn’t even there. The guys at golfacademytv are passionate about golf and they know exactly where the interest of the golfer lies. You feel that in the videos and this enables us to work very efficiently and achieve good quality videos.

How do you see the evolution of the concept?

Unlike a DVD or a book the web isn’t fixed and you can always update it. Access to appropriate information is almost immediate and content is updated on a regular basis. Depending on the success of the website, anything is possible. The topic of golf is endless with new tips, tools and strategies coming up all the time, I’m sure there will be some nice surprises from the big names in golf for members of golfacademytv very soon.
