Understanding the Law relating to Commercial Agents

12.05am 16th August 2007 - Management Topics

The golf industry has a tradition of utilising the services of sales agents but many Principals do not fully understand the present law, resulting in disputes and compensation claims by Agents. To enable suppliers to fully understand their obligations under the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993, the British Golf Industry Association is hosting a seminar at Federation House, Stoneleigh Park on Thursday, 13th September. This seminar will cover all aspects of the current legislation, including:

• Duties of a Commercial Agent to his Principal
• Duties of a Principal to his Commercial Agent
• Commission Payments
• Termination of Agency
• Entitlement of a Commercial Agent to compensation on termination
• Restraint of Trade clauses
• Effects of EU legislation

The speaker will be Carol Gunning, Senior Associate at Solicitors, Martineau Johnson who is a specialist in this field. Whatever type of product you supply, if your company utilises the services of Sales Agents this seminar is a must for you.

The seminar is FREE to member companies of the BGIA – the fee for non-members is £45 to include a buffet lunch. To reserve your place please email jacquib@sportsandplay.com
