STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) is opening its doors to professionals from the sports turf industry for its third annual research event.

STRI Research 2013 takes place at STRI’s head office and research facility in Bingley, and will provide a unique insight into the world of sportsturf management looking at trends, issues and the future of the industry. The free event is aimed at greenkeepers, course managers, fine turf managers, groundstaff and sports professionals.

After the resounding success of last year’s event which saw more than 250 turf professionals from all over the world descend on Bingley, STRI Research 2013 aims to present sportsturf managers with the perfect opportunity to experience the latest research into sports turf products, techniques and technology.

The one day event will run on both Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th September at STRI’s research facilities in Bingley with demonstrations taking place across seven separate turf management areas.

Industry topics on the agenda include nutritional management, disease management and plant health, growing turf in difficult conditions, application tools and methodology, as well as technology and machinery and turf stabilisation.

A number of STRI’s research partners are attending and supporting this year’s event including Aquatrols & Farmura, Bayer, Everris & Syngenta, R&K Kensett, Melspring & Sherriff Amenity and Rigby Taylor.

Ruth Mann, who manages the research trials for STRI, commented: “The 2012 event was a great success and the feedback from all attendees was very positive. We’ve taken all the elements that worked so well last year and introduced some new demonstrations to ensure that this event is the best one yet. All of our delegates will be based in small groups to allow maximum interaction and question time with STRI’s advisory staff, we really want them to get the benefit of the expertise available.

“STRI is proud to work closely in partnership with a variety of companies who are at the forefront of sportsturf research and management. The STRI Research team is looking forward to showcasing the array of groundbreaking products, technology and techniques that are being trialled and continuing to advance the industry by sharing best practice.”

Carolyn Beadsmoore, head of sales and marketing at STRI adds: “This is the third year we’ve hosted the event now and in that time it has established itself as one of the ‘must attend’ events in the industry calendar. As the two days are already filling up rapidly, sportsturf professionals wishing to attend should book soon to guarantee a place.”

The deadline for booking is 6 September 2013. Invitations have been sent out to more than 6,000 sports clubs across the UK and Ireland. Discounted accommodation of 50 per cent is available for one night at the Mercure Bankfield Hotel in Bingley.
