The Standing Committee on Greenkeepers’ Salaries and Conditions of Employment has been reformed for the year 2000 with a new membership drawn from the Association of Golf Club Secretaries (AGCS), the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) plus representatives from the Royal and Ancient Golf Club (R&A) and a private members’ golf club.

The Committee comprises Ray Burniston (Chairman) and Chris Silcox from the AGCS, George Barr and Richard Barker from BIGGA, Mark Dobell from the R&A and Don Bailey MBE from Hadley Wood Golf Club.

The Committee meets biannually to set the recommended minimum starting salaries and conditions of service for all greenkeepers in the United Kingdom. Its recommendations are circulated to all golf clubs in September each year.
