Golf Saudi Signs Memorandum Of Understanding With Troon

4.53pm 4th October 2019 - Management Topics

Golf Saudi has unveiled an exciting new partnership with Troon, the world’s leading golf management group, to provide strategic insights for the development of the game across the Kingdom. Troon will provide specific counsel on areas such as infrastructure development, agronomy, operational planning and financial best practice, to form the foundations for the forward-thinking golf programme to come.

Central to the partnership will be the support Troon provides Golf Saudi in the development of its five core pillars, encompassing Access & Infrastructure, Mass Participation, National Team & Elite Development, Events and Tourism, which will all be central to the activity undertaken.

This latest partnership is a statement of intent for what Golf Saudi aims to achieve with its dynamic golf development programme.

Unveiled at the inaugural Saudi International powered by SBIA back in February, the first European Tour event to be held in the Kingdom and won by former World Number One Dustin Johnson, Golf Saudi intends to transform the golfing landscape in the years ahead, utilising the game’s wide-reaching benefits for the people of Saudi Arabia.

“Troon will provide us with valuable insights to help set a new benchmark for golf development through our national golf strategy,” said Majed Al-Sorour, CEO, Saudi Golf Federation. “Their blend of regional expertise, allied with a truly global presence, will allow us to effectively evaluate the implementation of our programme. We look forward to working with them and to growing a vibrant and healthy ecosystem for golf in Saudi Arabia.”

Troon provides services to more than 465 locations and over 510 golf courses globally, forging a reputation amongst property owners and developers as a clear leader, defining best practice with its pioneering management approach.

With over 30 years’ experience, developing industry-leading strategies and the best talent, it is the perfect partner to help grow the game in Saudi Arabia.

“We are proud to associate Troon with one of the world’s most progressive new golf markets,” said Bruce Glasco, COO, Troon. “Saudi Arabia is currently laying robust foundations for its golf programming and with buy-in from the government and local development stakeholders, it is well placed to deliver a truly innovative approach to bringing golf and sport to the Saudi people. This is therefore a great opportunity to reset the dial and introduce modern techniques that help create one of the fastest growing new golf markets in the world.”
