Golf Club Leaders Set To Win The Sport’s Waiting Game

3.12pm 25th July 2023 - Management Topics

Golf club leaders are being offered a new technology-based solution which will enable them to strengthen links with golfers on their membership waiting lists and boost long-term profitability.

The exclusive IX / XVIII software service, powered by the technology engine of PlayMoreGolf, will allow club officials to ensure that those on waiting lists remain actively engaged with courses to improve the prospects of taking up full membership.

Thanks to this technology, clubs will be able to engage with those on waiting lists as often as possible allowing them to become social members of the course and enjoy a taste of a full membership.

Club officials will be able to offer those golfers kicking their heels on waiting lists, the capacity to take advantage of specified tee times that are quiet and unused enabling them to get on the fairway.

In a move which is also designed to support clubs’ long-term stability by monetising membership waiting lists, would-be members will be given real time notifications and access to tee times via an app that will integrate with club tee booking systems.

Alastair Sinclair, CEO of PlayMoreGolf, said: “PlayMoreGolf’s mission is to grow the game we all love by making golf more accessible to people across our communities.

“That is why we are delighted that golf clubs are now able to strengthen their relationships with people on their waiting lists.

“Our technology will ensure that golfers are able to play at their favoured courses while they play a waiting game.”

The new membership model is a customisable ‘white label’ product created by PlayMoreGolf, the UK’s leading points-based golf membership offering.

Langland Bay Golf Club in South Wales is pioneering the new service, with a key feature of the innovation being a dashboard-based solution which allows clubs to specify tee time slots, to not affect existing members and their experience.

The new technology has been developed at a time when a large number of golf clubs across the UK, have benefited with a growing membership waiting list. Some clubs are still at capacity and trying to keep that list at a high number is of vital importance.

Alastair added: “This platform, which has taken years of testing and development, has been designed to specifically help bridge the communication gap that can occur between prospective members and clubs.

“We know from speaking to many clubs that those on waiting lists are often fully engaged and excited to become members, so being able to offer real-time availability and updates can help them feel part of the club.

“Golf should be about building communities, and this platform allows clubs to do that with prospective members on their waiting lists, allowing them to engage with the club and its existing members, and start the all-important integration process, all whilst enjoying rounds of golf.”
