England Golf will be running two County Rules Schools this year: at The Northumberland Golf Club in High Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and at Market Rasen Golf Club in Lincolnshire.

Since 2011, there have been 12 England Golf County Rules Schools run across the country, all proving to be very popular and attracting over 350 people in total. Successful delegates qualify as county referees and can assist at county tournaments.

Toby Thorne, England Golf Championship Manager said: “This is the first time we have taken an England Golf County Rules School to the far north of the country – following a request from Northumberland Ladies’ County Golf Association. We are delighted to provide the opportunity for people in the north east to attend a school on their own doorstep.

“Equally, we have been very keen to increase the number of county qualified referees in the east midlands. So bringing a RulesSchool to Market Rasen should help Lincolnshire and neighbouring counties to build a broader pool of qualified people to offer their skills and help at county golf events.”

The County Rules Schools are open to all members of golf clubs affiliated to England Golf and delegates should have at least a basic understanding of the Rules of Golf before attending. The format of the school is a mix of outdoor practical demonstrations, refereeing role-play scenarios and some indoor tutorials. It is followed by an exam several weeks later.

The details for the events are as follows:

Venue: The Northumberland Golf Club, Northumberland

Day 1: Mon 11th August            Day 2 (inc. Exam): Mon 22nd September

Entry deadline: Fri 11th July

Venue: Market Rasen Golf Club, Lincolnshire

Day 1: Mon 1st September        Day 2 (inc. Exam): Mon 13th October

Entry deadline: Fri 1st August

The fee for attending an EnglandGolfCountyRulesSchool is £50, which includes tuition, lunches, teas and coffees on both days.  Although hosted in Northumberland and Lincolnshire, delegates from other counties will also be welcome.
