England Golf and Players 1st re-new their member retention support offer

8.20am 22nd June 2022 - Management Topics

Players 1st will continue to provide free access to their Membership Suite of Experience surveys to England Golf affiliated Clubs

As England Golf announce a huge rise in the number of golf members at affiliated clubs, it is no surprise to see the growing interest and uptake from Clubs in relation to the specific retention support through the Membership: Give it a Shot initiative.

Over 200 affiliated Clubs have taken-on the Players 1st subscription as part of the membership retention support being offered to Clubs by England Golf since May 2021.

The extension of this agreement means Clubs will continue to be able to access the Players 1st Membership suite of surveys. Giving the Club the opportunity to access flexible and customisable survey templates to gather essential experience feedback from each of their specific golfer groups.

Amelia Lewis, Regional Manager UK at Players 1st said: “Whilst there continues to be this interest in the sport through the club and membership environment, access to measurement and management tools such as Players 1st can play a critical role for Clubs to gather specific insights from their members, regardless if they have been at the club for 6 months or 6 years. Measuring, learning and improving is key to delivering great experiences, satisfied Members and creating loyal customers. We appreciate the dedication from England Golf delivery team with their ongoing retention support with Clubs, and will continue to provide the governing body with relevant and comprehensive insights with regards to golfer experience.”

Matt Draper, Club, County & Membership Senior Manager who oversaw the initial agreement said: “We are delighted with the impact that our club support team have been able to make in our first year working with Players 1st, with over 220 Clubs taking on a subscription to their suite of member surveys. The feedback we continue to receive from Clubs has been extremely positive, which reinforces the necessity for Clubs to have access to such effective support tools like Players 1st. Since May 2021, there have been over 28,000 responses to Players 1st experience surveys, enabling England Golf to begin identifying key national and regional trends amongst Clubs, golfer types and specific service areas, in more detail than ever before, allowing us to support clubs with real-time and vital statistics. This also means that we are able to deliver relevant national and regional benchmarking opportunities to our Clubs. We are extremely pleased to be able to continue to offer Clubs access to this industry leading platform.”

The Players 1st solution is completely cloud based which means that no additional or supporting software or technology is required to use the platform. It provides Clubs with a single-sign on solution to set-up, test, launch the experience surveys and access the real-time updated results view.

What Clubs can learn from consistent measurement, tracking and ultimately learning from this what is most important to their experience, is almost a necessity and an expectation from members nowadays. Response rates in Players 1st average 59% for the Member Experience survey, providing Clubs with experience feedback, both from quantitate questions and open comments.

The results view highlights the touchpoints and service areas that are meeting or exceeding the expectations of the members, but crucially, identifies where there are ‘gaps’ in specific service area between expectation and their satisfaction. This data driven approach to improve in the most important areas will start to have a cumulative effect to elevate their golfers overall satisfaction, which drives loyalty.
