Alcanada sparkles with Tagmarshal Diamond award

1.52pm 4th December 2020 - Management Topics

The management team at Club de Golf Alcanada is in sparkling mood after landing the coveted Diamond Award at the 2020 Tagmarshal Awards.

The 7,108-yard, Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed layout in north Mallorca is no stranger to winning top awards and has steadily added to its trophy cabinet since it opened in 2003.

The latest accolade – the highest honour at the Tagmarshal Awards – was presented for ‘exceptional on-course performance and player experience over the past year’.

Alcanada was one of only eight courses to receive the prestigious recognition and the only venue in Europe, with US-based venues Baltusrol, Country Club at Castle Pines, Cypress Point, Erin Hills, National Golf Links of America, Pinehurst No.2 and Quaker Ridge being the other Diamond Award winners.

The Tagmarshal course management system has been in operation at Alcanada since 2017 and has played a pivotal role in maintaining pace of play and providing real-time data.

And director of golf Kristoff Both believes the Tagmarshal award shows the club’s commitment to enhancing the experience for golfers.

Both said: “It’s fantastic to win this highest Tagmarshal award. We’re delighted with the system since we installed it and it works really well. We never had a huge problem with slow play at Alcanada before, but the Tagmarshal system ensures we should never face it. It is one of the biggest annoyances on the golf course and it’s great recognition for us.”
