R&A launches #GolfAtHome campaign

9.32am 30th March 2020 - Growing the Game

The R&A has launched a campaign to encourage golfers to share the ways they are keeping active with golf during the Coronavirus lockdown period.

Using the social media link #GolfAtHome, the R&A said they hope to ‘inspire the golfing world in the coming weeks by sharing photos and videos of golfers’ and their family members practicing golf at home or in the garden, provided it’s safe and responsible.

“In these uncertain and challenging times of Covid-19, your regular golfing routines have been disrupted – but that doesn’t mean you need to stop playing completely. If you’ve achieved a brilliant garden chip shot, made the perfect putt across the living room floor or got your family to laugh with a funny routine, then let us know and share your content,” added the R&A. “All you have to do is tag the R&A on social media and use the hashtag #GolfAtHome so we can share your content. We look forward to posting and retweeting the best, so keep them coming!”

So far, dozens of videos have been posted, including content from many European Tour stars, including Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington, who has been offering tips on curing a slice, while Golfing World presenter Iona Stephen launched the Golf@Home Challenge, where she challenged golfer to try and chip a golf ball through the centre of a toilet roll.

The R&A’s #GolfAtHome campaign is on Twitter @randa and Instagram @therandagolf
