Valencia to host 2010 IGTM

8.00am 16th August 2010 - Exhibitions & Conferences

International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), the premier global event for golf tourism suppliers, buyers and media, will be staged in Valencia, Spain, 15-18 November, 2010.

The annual four-day event, which has become the established meeting place for golf tourism professionals from more than 65 countries across the world, is set to be the most important yet, as the industry meets to network and do business.

More than 600 suppliers, including national and regional golf tourism organisations, leading resorts and golf courses will attend and exhibit, meeting approximately 350 pre-qualified buyers and golf tour operators via IGTM’s professional pre-scheduled appointment system.

“IGTM is a must-attend event for everyone in the global golf tourism industry and those who visited last year, the biggest and most successful IGTM to date, will appreciate why it is so important,” said event director Mark Walsh of Reed Exhibitions.

“Clearly, the wider travel market continues to face challenging conditions, but for proactive suppliers and buyers in the golf travel market where there is a more positive outlook, there is a great opportunity to stay ahead of the curve. IGTM is where it all happens for the global golf travel industry and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Valenciana, the outstanding golfing region in November.”

This year’s IGTM will be staged at the Feria Valencia Convention and Exhibition Centre in Valencia, on Spain’s east coast. The region, whose most famous golfing son is European Tour and Ryder Cup star Sergio Garcia, is one of the finest golf destinations in Europe.

Among the special events during IGTM will be the Valencia Region Gala Dinner and the IAGTO Virgin Atlantic Awards, recognising excellence in the global golf tourism industry. There will also be an IGTM golf tournament plus a variety of networking and social events.

However, the focus for IGTM, which was shortlisted for Best Exhibition Under 2000m2 at the AEO Excellence Awards, the leading Association Awards in the events industry, will remain strictly professional.

“We are seeing new, innovative ways of doing business, sophisticated use of technology and a new breed of younger buyers in the golf travel market,” continued Mark Walsh. “Combined with significant emerging markets, including Asia, these are both challenging and exciting times for the industry, and IGTM is the hub at which it all happens.”
