Troon Golf was delighted with the number of Troon Golf managed facilities that were exhibiting at the 2008 International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) show, the golf tourism industry’s annual global trade show in Marbella, Spain.

Troon Golf has demonstrated its strength and depth in the Europe, Middle East & Africa regions, with the show further illustrating its regional diversity and leading position in the market. Troon Golf had its own stand where the team experienced much interest surrounding the company, services on offer as well as its impressive portfolio.

“The show has been a great success for us. We have many of our clients and facilities here and it is always a proud moment for the company to be associated with so many recognized resorts and courses. We have also had a strong interest from many new courses looking to partner with Troon Golf” commented Damien Murphy, sales and marketing manager, Troon Golf Europe.

The latest addition to the Troon Golf Portfolio is The Faldo Legacy course at The Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort in the Dominican Republic. Truly one of Faldo’s finest pieces of architecture, the Legacy course looks set to establish itself as one of the top destinations in golf.

Also at the show, Dubai received ‘Golf Destination of the Year’ for the Africa, Gulf States & Indian Ocean region. Taking place on the Thursday, during the IGTM, the IAGTO Awards recognized Dubai as a leading force in world golf. General manager of Emirates Golf Club, Chris May (on behalf of Dubai Golf & Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club) and Chris Brown, director of golf at the Els Club were on hand to receive the award.

“This is a great honour to receive such an award. To be associated with what is recognized as the golf destination of the year is hugely satisfying” commented Chris Brown. “The Els Club has managed to establish itself in a short space of time since we launched earlier this year and has become an integral part of the exciting golf scene in the UAE.”

The Els Club was launched on 28th January where Ernie played his first official round. It was then opened to general play mid April where it was subject to early rave reviews. The first ever Els Club was created in Dubai Sports City, a unique development located within 15 minutes of the Palm and Dubai Marina area.

Following its launch The Els Club has become a must play course on the UAE circuit, with a unique feel and immaculate conditioning, the course has experienced an impressive number of international rounds in its first year.

The UAE has further cemented its place on the world golf map where Troon Golf plays an integral part of setting the standard at some of the best known resorts and courses. Having been involved in many of the established projects, such as The Montgomerie, Dubai, which delivers more international rounds per year than any other course in Dubai and in developing projects such as its recent alliance with TDIC and Saadiyat Island, Troon Golf continues to provide an unrivalled service for its highly respected clients.

“This is a fantastic achievement for Dubai and all those involved in its vision and creation. Troon Golf continues to set the standard in golf course operations in the region, and would like to specially congratulate the Els Club for finishing runner up in the ‘Development of the Year’ award, and its involvement in helping Dubai secure Golf Destination of the Year. Truly a great achievement” commented Mark Chapleski, area managing director, Troon Golf, Middle East.
