Snagging Our Next Major Champion

8.07am 28th July 2014 - Exhibitions & Conferences

SNAg-Irish Expo-MOKJuly saw Rory McIlroy triumph in The Open. The young Irishman’s victory has impacted on many budding golfers lives, encouraging their persistence to reach the top. Irish Golf Expo organisers are hoping to be on target this September as they too aim to help find Ireland’s next Major golf winner.

Set to be a major event in the golfing calendar, organisers of the first ever Irish Golf Expo have announced a partnership with SNAG Golf Ireland to provide a dedicated kids zone, where they hope to ‘snag’ the next Irish golf superstar.

SNAG is an award-winning system for teaching adults and kids the game of golf in a fun, safe manner that encourages correct golf habits from the outset and is used by The Paul McGinley Golf Academy, The Darren Clarke Golf Foundation and The Jack Nicklaus Learning Leagues.

Paul Shaw, Director of Hawkeye Management said, “We are delighted to welcome SNAG to the Irish Golf Expo. They have led the field in terms of encouraging the younger generations to take up golf and we look forward to inspiring lots of budding golfers to take up this sport.”

SNAG stands for Starting New At Golf and the system, using equipment featuring oversized clubfaces, larger balls and fun targets, is being increasingly adopted by golf clubs and coaches not only in Ireland but across the world.

Michael O’Keeffe, SNAG Golf (Ireland) comments, “At SNAG we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play the game of golf, be it by way of a child in the school yard experiencing the game for the first time or a family looking to have a bit of fun together at a SNAG Family day held at their local club. We are really looking forward to The Irish Golf Expo where we will be encouraging everyone to join us and have a hit around The SNAG Zone, especially those new to the game no matter age, ability or disability”

The Irish Golf Expo will feature a variety of exhibitors showcasing the latest in golf equipment, fashion and gadgets from the leading global brands in the game. The family-friendly event will also have demonstrations and free golf lessons from PGA professionals as well as an indoor driving range with custom fitting and club testing, on-site golf superstore and much, much more.
