Greg Norman to accept the Golf Business Forum Lifetime Achievement Award

KPMG has announced that its seventh annual Golf Business Forum will take place at The Gloria Resort, Turkey, 12-14 May, 2010.

Leading figures from the golf business world, including former World Number One golfer, entrepreneur and golf course designer Greg Norman, will attend the conference in Belek, on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, voted Golf Destination of the Year by IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) in 2008.

The two-day event, which will include a special focus on Turkey and the ‘BRIC economies’ of Brazil, Russia, India and China, will be moderated by CNN International’s Justin Armsden, sports anchor and presenter of the weekly Living Golf show.

Andrea Sartori, head of KPMG’s specialist Golf Advisory Practice in EMA, said: “The Golf Business Forum brings together leading players from the golf, real estate, finance and tourism sectors in the EMA region and has become the most important event to meet and do business. We are very excited that the Golf Business Forum is being hosted in Turkey in 2010 as this is a fast emerging golf destination that has everything going for it – high quality golf courses, a desirable climate, natural beauty and outstanding value.

“The Turkish Golf Federation also has ambitious plans to add more than 100 golf courses in the next 10-15 years and with recent changes to property laws regarding overseas ownership and potential future entry into the European Union, the development prospects for Turkey are extremely good. I believe this is set to be the best Golf Business Forum yet.”

Greg Norman, widely recognised as the most successful golf professional-turned-businessman, whose golf course design practice has completed more than 70 projects on six continents in the past 20 years and whose apparel brand, Greg Norman Collection, is one of the best known in golf, will attend in person to accept the Golf Business Forum Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Greg Norman is an iconic golfer and hugely successful businessman in his own right, and I have no doubt he will be an inspirational presence at the Golf Business Forum,” added Andrea Sartori.
