A snow covered Epsom Racecourse was the place to be for golf course managers in the south of England last week as this was the venue for Golf Management Group’s (GMG) Supplier Exhibition. As well as the 46 suppliers there was a programme of Seminars throughout the day and prizes to be won including a Mercedes A Class for a hole-in-one and a luxury Golf Holiday for two won by Rob Morgan of Frinton-on-Sea Golf Club.
GMG is now working with over 400 golf clubs including some of the most prestigious in the country, helping them to save many thousands of pounds via their preferential terms with over 50 suppliers providing everything from course and catering supplies to bunker and bar solutions with purchasing power of tens of millions, GMG certainly has the volume of business to secure favourable terms for its members.
The fact that the show was attended by more than 65% of the South Region’s GMG membership with representation from another 30 non-member clubs, demonstrates the level of concern about the importance of reducing costs and the many hours spent on procurement.
The event’s organiser Philip Sparks, GMG East Region Director, hailed the event a great success, further proof that Golf Clubs are actively looking towards GMG to help their clubs prosper in these challenging times.
