Extensive Seminar Program at GOLF EUROPE 2010

Douglas Poole, Managing Director - Golfsmith Europe and Chairman BGIA, is one of the speakers in The Learning Zone

For the first time ever the PGAs of Europe present the so-called “Learning Zone” at GOLF EUROPE. In brief presentations of 20 minutes each, golf business experts will present three important issues related to a variety of marketing and sales strategies. This special type of ‘speed training’ will benefit pro shops and golf retail pros by providing a quick and effective way to analyze the efficiency of their business and to develop new strategies.

On the first day of the show, Sunday, September 26th, 2010, Gary Silcock, Golf Director at The Belfry, will discuss, among other topics, the three best measures to optimize profits in resort management, and provide advice on successful up-selling or staff training. The next presenter, Doug Poole, General Manager of Golfsmith Europe, will offer the three best secrets for club fitting for junior players. Mattias Lopes, CEO of Multi Mall Management, will discuss the topic of “Purchasing Incentives to Increase Sales”. The first day will close with presentations by Mike McFadden, Director of Sports Jakobsberg Hotel and Golf Resort, on sales strategies to decrease shelf warmers or guidelines for appropriate target group contact, which will also open the Learning Zone on the second day of the event.

The Learning Zone on day two, Monday, September 27th, 2010, will continue with presentations by Gerd Rothfuchs, General Manager of the Golf Sports Club Rheine Golf GmbH & Co. KG, on budget control and strategies to increase membership. An exhibitor presentation by Advance®Putters – Kmat ®Golf will follow, focusing on putting. Paul Dyer, Senior Director David Leadbetter Golf Academy, Europe, will also discuss topics such as the three best guidelines to select a putter or the key to putting success. Bill Sanderson, Golf Business Consultant, will use case studies to provide the three best tips for increasing revenue and gaining more repeat customers for pro shops.

The Learning zone on day three, September 28th, 2010, will commence with Jim Long of Golfbreaks.com, discussing topics such as the three best suggestions to increase sales with the help of golf travel and more income with the help of winter golf travel promotions. Tony Bennett, Director of Education for PGA of Europe, offers the three most valuable tips to start a golf career. Dr. Falk Billion, independent Golf Business Consultant and Germany’s first officially appointed and sworn economics efficiency expert, will conclude the first ever Learning Zone by discussing financial success in the golf (resort) business, successful self-promotion of golf professionals and guidelines for business in the Central and Eastern European golf market.

This year marks the fourth time the GOLF EUROPE Product Award is presented for the best innovations and highlights in the categories clubs, accessories, apparel, footwear, caddies, and training equipment. A new feature this year is a category-overlapping special award for extraordinary design.

High-calibre experts from the segments of fashion, golf professionals, media, retail and design evaluate the entered products according to function, degree of innovation, user friendliness, and design.

The award presentation will be held on Sunday, September 26th, 2010, at the M,O,C in room K1A.
