UK Golf Federation announces update to electric vehicle charging partnership

10.27am 21st November 2023 - Environment & Sustainability

The UK Golf Federation and EVC, an electric vehicle charging company have announced a significant update in their ongoing partnership which gives golf clubs greater control over its revenue stream.

EVC’s core focus is to provide convenient, practical, and reliable charge points – to meet the demand of the EV industry today, and for the future. Their goal is to lead the largest destination roll-out of fully funded EV charge points by providing a smart and scalable charging infrastructure – alongside a charging management software – to ensure that businesses and destinations are EV-ready.

Through boosting the destination EV charging infrastructure, EVC aims to eliminate the so-called ‘range anxiety’ experienced by EV drivers concerned about finding reliable charge points. With a focus on reducing environmental impact and enhancing customer convenience, EVC’s solutions cater to a wide range of charging needs, contributing to the growth and adoption of electric vehicles.

As a valued corporate partner to the UKGF, EVC are able to offer UKGF members and golf course owners two EV funding solutions:

Fully Funded (Zero CapEx/Zero OpEx): In this model, EVC fully funds the installation of the charging infrastructure at golf courses, as well as the ongoing maintenance and support, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for both golfers and course operators. Courses receive a profit share throughout the partnership which enhances value proposition and revenue potential.

Client Funded: For golf courses looking to make a direct investment, this model allows them to purchase EVC charging stations and retain all commissions generated from the charging infrastructure. EVC provide a full maintenance programme with market leading warranties attached to all products. This means, regardless of the funding option chosen by the site their EV charging strategy is sustainable, frictionless, and maintained.

Doug Poole, CEO of The UK Golf Federation, shared his thoughts on this development, saying, “Our strengthened partnership with EVC marks a significant step towards making golf courses more sustainable and accommodating to the evolving needs of golfers. EVC’s latest enhancements in charging technology not only align with our commitment to environmental stewardship but also elevate the overall golfing experience for our members and visitors.”

Nick Ballamy, CEO of EVC, added: “The partnership with The UK Golf Federation represents a significant step towards creating a greener and more accessible future for the golf community. By installing EV charge points, members of The UK Golf Federation can now future proof their golf courses and demonstrate their unwavering commitment to sustainability whilst providing exceptional EV charging experiences for their valued members and guests.”
