The R&A has appointed Dr Brett Morris to its Sustainable Agronomy team in the Asia-Pacific region. With over three decades of expertise in turfgrass science and amenity horticulture, he will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable practices across golf’s agronomic landscape.
A highly respected leader in the global turf industry, Dr Morris joins The R&A from Syngenta Professional Solutions, where he served as Technical Services Manager for Australia and New Zealand.
His career spans 34 years, including 15 years as a Golf Course Superintendent managing diverse turfgrass systems at public, private and resort courses in Australia, Fiji, and Indonesia. His agronomy portfolio also includes oversight of Australia’s top 100-ranked golf courses, major racetracks and international football stadiums used for televised events.
In addition to his hands-on experience, Dr Morris holds a PhD in Turfgrass Science and Breeding and has driven innovation across academic, commercial and R&D sectors. His work has been instrumental in developing groundbreaking turf solutions, including novel chemistry, biological products and surfactant technologies. A sought-after speaker, he regularly shares insights on turf management at conferences worldwide.
