Sustainable Golf Week set for October return

1.09pm 21st August 2023 - Environment & Sustainability

The second Sustainable Golf Week is taking place this autumn, hosted by GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf with its partners and collaborators globally to reflect, celebrate and accelerate industry efforts to build a greener future for the game.

Between October 9th-13th, Sustainable Golf Week 2023 will shine a spotlight golf’s achievements in sustainability; celebrate the eco-friendly actions of many golf courses, developers, designers, tournaments, players and companies; and promote what still needs to be done in this UN Decade of Action to deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Under its ‘Golf – Better with Nature’ theme across several mainstream and social media initiatives, Sustainable Golf Week will champion the work of leaders across the golf industry with inspirational examples and ideas on the practical steps that everyone involved in the sport can make to move the green agenda forward.

Golf’s relationship with nature is unique among sport, with landscapes, ecosystems and biodiversity an essential part of the experience. Accordingly, with pressing challenges of climate change and ecosystem degradation, preserving and actively reviving nature holds significant importance for both golf and society.

The week will explore golf’s role in fostering nature, including the safeguarding of nature and prevention of ‘net negative’ impacts, as well as the active restoration and enrichment of our golfing landscapes. More widely, we’ll look at the concept and criteria for Nature Positive GolfTM and how golf can champion the significance of the natural world to millions of players and followers.

More details are to follow, but If you have any initial questions or ideas, please contact Roddy Williams at roddy@sustainable.golf
