Amsterdam International Golf Club has started with the construction of a golf course on a triple-A location in The Netherlands. The site of Amsterdam International is one of the best kept secrets of Amsterdam. The course will be situated between Schiphol Airport and the Amsterdam Zuidas alongside the A9 and A10 motorways.
Marcel Welling, CEO of Amsterdam International Golf Club, said: ‘The golf course will be absolutely world-class and in line with the highest international standards. The club house will also meet the most stringent quality criteria and offers a range of luxurious services, such as an exclusive restaurant concept, extensive fitness and wellness facilities and meeting facilities equipped with the latest technologies. ‘
The golf course will consist of 18 holes, a driving range and a club house. The par-73 Championship Course was designed by former Ryder Cup captain and US Masters winner Ian Woosnam and Mastergolf.
The design optimally exploits the uneven terrain. Height variances up to 14 meters, water hazards, unique perspectives and beautiful sightlines provide the golf course with a non-Dutch character.
The result is a Championship Golf Course of international standing that will bring unique experiences for golfers at every level.
Amsterdam International will be an exclusive full-service concept where you can find everything you want. Sophisticated hospitality, high-level gastronomy, extensive fitness and wellness facilities are elements that contribute to the exceptional experience.
The design of the club house is the work of architectural firm Mecanoo, and the interior will be designed by well-known designer Piet Boon.
Initial construction of the golf course has already begun, sowing is scheduled for spring. The golf course and associated facilities are expected to be ready for use in mid-2012.
Amsterdam International Golf Club is a sister company of the Netherlands’ largest golf-course operator BurgGolf, which operates 10 golf courses including hotels, restaurants and golf stores.
